Wah COW!

Wah, it's been a hell of day. I just had tuition at my dad's school. It wasn't half bad, it being my first session and all, and I ended at 1pm. The bad thing was that after that 1pm, was a whole of almost 2 hours waiting for my dad!

I was like sitting there, trying to fill the time with humming to myself, trying to kill some fast running ants and watching some kids play soccer across the field[I was sitting at the staircase which was facing the field]. Man! It was almost as bad as studying!

Ok, out of the suffering and boring stuff. Now to the YOUTUBE! I found this series of extremely hilarious parodies of movies called "How *name of movie* should have ended".

Here are the ones of LotR, Beowulf, Dead's Man Chest and Borat.

WOW.

Well, you guys can might as well ignore the previous post because we decided to use Christopher's one instead. Sigh, after all the time I spent on the computer working on that 1 measly post. Well, never mind. What I'm actually posting about is, TODAY!

Yes! Sorry for not updating you guys of the events but I went out with Andrew, Darren, Mai Tri, Syahrul, Aizat, Benjamin, Bharat and Eugene. We went to a futsal court called the Cage in Kallang. Man, I still remember the amount of trouble we had to go through just to FIND the place. But it was worth it!

After that we went out for lunch at Cineleisure at the Orchard area. By then, Christopher and Ryan had joined us because after that, we went for a movie! We watched Ip Man(eep-mun). It was FREAKING awesome! It's a story about Bruce Lee's mentor and the story takes place during the Japanese Occupation. I was like, all WOWed by the moves.

The entire 10 hours were the best of my life! Well, so FAR. :)

Still WOWed,
ArtGerm.

Women and Bad Driving?

Everyone knows quite well of the accusations against women that they are horrible drivers. I'm here to try to get things straight.

Here is an explanation that I found on Yahoo! Answers:-

"History….during the time prior to the ‘cultural revolution’ females rarely drove. My own grandmother never even had a license until grandfather died. During that time it was the guy thing to drive. Check out those old movies, and TV shows of that time.

Now whether the stereotype started because (most, many?) women then were bad drivers due to the lack of experience, or simply as a easy excuse to indulge the stereotypical ‘male ego’ for control, or a combination of the two would be an interesting study.

As to why the stereotype is still around today, even though the car insurance statistics, at least the ones they use for rates, show the opposite, I believe is just that it is hard to kill a stereotype once it is in the social consciousness." by sirwasik.

I also read another theory by an England Driving Inspector, someone reliable, who said:-

"As a Driving Instructor, here in England,I see the difference between male and female drivers from the minute that they sit behind the wheel! Girls will instinctively come off the gas on approaching a bend in the road because they will be wondering if there is anything hidden around the corner! That thought doesn’t even occur to the boys, who just keep driving at the same speed! Girls anticipate better, boys “Firefight”,just dealing with a problem if it appears, which, sadly, is all too often, too late.
There has been research(from the States) that shows that the male Brain does not develope fully until the age of 25,with the understanding of consequence and anticipation of Danger being the last area to mature. They are experts at coordination and spacial awareness.making it easier for them to pass the driving test, the real challenge, for me, is to train their Minds, and motivate them to Think!and take pride in being a good driver rather than a fast driver."

Those words should be convincing enough to show that the accusitions of women and bad driving are just unreasonable but these are the thoughts of other people.

"What do you mean by bad drivers? Fact is that women ARE worse at parking and reversing on average. I have seen some women who seem to have no idea where the ends or sides of their vehicle are. Men are better at these sorts of tasks, on average. It's just the way the brain works - men's perception of distance, angles and so forth tends to be better. Sorry, as far as I can see it's a fact.

However, accidents involving parking and reversing rarely cause much damage and injury.

OTOH men tend to have accidents at higher speed where damage and injury are far greater when they occur."by Ken E

After much researching, I realised that most of the women make their points by saying that men dringk drive more, men are involved in accidents more, and also to point of comparing insurance prices!

So, to sum up, I would say that both men AND women are horrible drivers sometimes and also depending on the situation, sure the lady in the car in front of you doesn't which side of her is which, and sure that guy who just passed you drives like a maniac. But, to tell you the truth, it's all in the way you think. Hope this clears all the stereotype theories on the net about which sex is better at driving.

Man walks up to another, pours thinner on him, and sets him on FIRE.

This is the man, a 70-year-old, who attacked the Yio Chu Kang MP Seng Han Thong. The former taxi driver was a common face in the Institute Of Mental Health and was often seen by his neighbours as an eccentric character who would run up and down the corridor of his block without any apparent reason.

According to witnesses, Mr. Ong Kah Chua was furious that he wasn't he given any hongbao. Mr Seng ran onto the stage of the Yio Chu Kang CC, where he was attending an event where tried in vain to put on the flames on the back of his head. The chairman of the constituency's Chu Sheng Temple, Mr Aw Chui Seng, rushed up to help him beat out the flames but ended up burnt.

This is not the first time Mr. Seng was attacked; in July 2006, he was assaulted by man who believed that the Member of Parliament wasn't helping him enough to get him back his revoked taxi license.

To me, this is quite worrying because if a man can just come up to a Member of Parliament and set him ablaze, what about the citizens? Where is the sense of safety that we are supposed to have?

Its a Monday night! We finished early today because of the collection of the class of 2008's collection of the O' level results. Everyone hopes that there'll be a half day tomorrow like there was last year. We did some target setting today. Yep, I didn't exactly pass with flying colours last year but I plan to get the lowest score of B4. Expectations that are too high won't do you any good.

I've still got some more assignments to complete such as the Name logo(typography) and the self portrait for AEP. We are doing typography this year followed by sculpture, I think.

I still find creating a blog for EL which makes up 50% of my grade kind of weird. I mean, I asked all of my other non-Victorian friends and they, too, find it weird. Well, I don't lose anything, in fact, I gain because making a blog is kind of fun and you know how entu I am when doing FUN stuff. Heehee.

Over everything that happened over the new year, the one that creating quite a hype is the one where Manchester United, the greatest team in the world of Soccer(I'm a true red Man U fan), beat Chealsea, one of the regular league leaders, 3-0!

Manchester United 3
Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov

Chelsea 0

You can watch the highlights of the match @ http://worldsoccerview.blogspot.com/2009/01/manchester-united-vs-chelsea-highlights.html

10:18pm

Ok, now it's around 10pm already. I finished my typography homework!
